This Program supports the Santa Cruz High School P.E. Department.

Our 4th YEAR  Program at Santa Cruz High is OPEN to the PUBLIC (Ages 2+). We offer American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Programming, lap swim the entire time we are open, water aerobics classes, AQUA Running classes, a Pool Jr. Guard Program for kids, water polo basics classes & Recreational Swim in the afternoons. This Program is offered at the NEW Santa Cruz High School 10 lane Pool next to the gym and track at the corner of Myrtle and Taylor Streets.

Below you will find detailed descriptions of programs offered at Santa Cruz High School


Seahorse Swim School offers a 8 week Summer Program at Santa Cruz High. We welcome the Community to join our Program.  Seahorse Swim School emphasizes water safey while increasing swimming skills and over all fitness. Rapid results are seen with daily lessons.

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Group level classes (2+yrs - adult)
Two week sessions are offered, with low student/teacher ratios. Preregistration is required for full sessions. Drop-in's & late starts are welcome @$20/class. Drop-in's are confirmed poolside based on student teacher ratios and class availability. Group classes that do not fill will be made available for Private and semi-private lessons. Adult beginner and intermediate group classes are also offered. On-line registration is available for group lessons.  A Stay & Play zone will be offered for your children to practice their swimming skills for a half hour after class for $3 pending space in the pool. Pre-register for a session or drop in for a class for $20/lesson.

Pool Jr. Guard & Little Guard Program
Two week sessions (Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri) will include first aid & CPR skills, swim workouts focusing on endurance and improving strokes, learning how to identify distressed swimmers, rescue skills & fun. Each day will include a warm up lap around the track, a water safety topic for discussion, stroke clinics, pool workouts, swim instruction, and guarding skills. Special visits from AMR Ambulance Department occur each session and a walking field trip to the Downtown Fire Station will ignite interest in these careers at an early age. Club Ed Surf School will host our Pool surf session and will open up a special group surf lesson on Thursdays when we are closed for 2014. All participants of the Jr. Guard Program are invited to stay for recreational swim at no extra charge. Through our Pool Jr. Guard Program we hope to encourage all our Seahorse Swimmers to continue American Red Cross’s Commodore E. Longfellow’s journey of encouraging "bathers to be swimmers and swimmers to be lifesavers."

Prerequiste : level 3a graduate or 3b. Ability to swim 25 yrd continually, 1 minute treading H2O. 

No tryout is needed if the student is able to do the skills as listed above. If you are unsure, please call us to confirm that you child is ready. We could schedule a FREE Assesment as needed. 

Program is designed for ages 6-13.
Jr. Guards M/T/W/Fr 9am-1:30pm. Children must be picked up by 1:45pm.
Two week session: $240
(No class July 4, 2014)
Pre-register for the session or drop in ($45) for the day.
To Bring to Pool Jr. Guard Program: Tennis shoes/socks, deck shoes (flip flops), swimsuit, towel(s), rashguards, water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, warm clothing.

 Non-competitive Swimteam
Team workouts emphasize swimming for fitness while providing individual attention to streamlining each individual’s stroke. Participants should be comfortable swimming multiple lengths of the pool and know the 4 competitive strokes to join. Workouts are held daily, Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri from 10 -11am. Level 4 prepares swimmers for Swimteam. Commit to the session or drop in for a workout for $20.

 Private/Semi-private lessons: Children & Adults
Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced

All ages, levels and abilities are encouraged to sign up for our private/semi-private swim lessons. Flexible scheduling is available. We encourage beginning adults with minimal water experience to give it a try. We will teach you in a supportive and safe environment. This 30 minute lesson will be designed for your present level of ability and goals for yourself. Upon request, we will help you build a personal fitness program developed around your individualized goals. Tiffany will teach Private, semi-private lessons and custom classes on Tuesdays. Please call her directly to set them up.

 Recreational Swim
Recreational swimming is offered Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri from 12 - 2pm for children (2+years & adults). Recreational swim (and all programming we offer) is open to the Community. Day passes and bulk rec swim entry passes are available. 
$5 entry.


 Lap Swim
Lap swimming is offered Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri from 9am - 2pm for adults & teens. 1-2 lanes will be available for lap swimming based on the demand on the pool & other programming. Lap swim is open to the Community. Day passes and bulk lap swim entry passes are available. 
$5 entry.

 Water Aerobics - Classes cancelled till people show interest.
Water Aerobics classes will be offered this Summer ONCE PEOPLE EXPRESS INTEREST. This class has been cancelled due to low to NO attendance. Water Exercise teachers include Melissa Cuddihy and Camille Smith-Ballon. Entry is on a drop-in basis. $7/drop-in rate. 20 workout punchcards $100.      Preregistration is NOT required.



 Deep  Aqua Water Running Class (AQUA Running) - Classes cancelled till people show interest.
Deep Water Running classes offer a full-body workout involving the legs, arms, shoulders, & core muscles.  Perfect for the conditioning triathalete to the beginner. You choose your water resistance.Times to be determined. 
$7 drop in rate. 20 workout punchcards $100.      Preregistration is NOT required.




 Adult Stroke Clinic & Aquatic Fitness- classes cancelled till people show interest.
This hour long workout will give adult swimmers the opportunity to improve their stroke technique, improve cardiovascular fitness and build endurance in a noncompetitive environment.  Swimmers will be introduced to a variety of drills that can be easily incorporated into an individualized aquatic workout. A combination of wet and dry drills will give the swimmer a wide variety of conditioning options to keep workouts fun and fresh.  Adult swimmers who are able to swim 50 continuous yards are welcome to join this workout group. This class is a great prerequisite to open water swimming, personalized aquatic workouts and preparation for Masters Swimming (aka Adult Fitness).  So whether you just want to feel more confident and comfortable in the water or you want to swim as your primary form of exercise this class is for you.... $10/workout. Come join us for fitness, friends and fun!

 Space for your own pool party. Create your own pool party during our recreational swim M/T/W/Fr 12-2pm. Lifeguard coverage included in cost. Call for details.

Seahorse Swim School looks forward to opening up more water on the Westside of town for the Community. Tell your friends & family! Our program allows for late starts to swim classes and drop-in's for the day!
